December 1, 2014

this week was great because we got to celebrate thanksgiving with a family who i absolutely adore here they are called familia timina and they have six kids and there all so great they are less actives and so we were at the table having bread with butter and jam and then the father ernesto said that today is thanksgiving and happy thanksgiving and from there i said perfect we are going to go around the table and say what we are grateful for because thats what everyone does at the table for thanksgiving and so i started and then we went around the table and the whole family commented and by the end every single person was crying it was one of the times in my life i will never forget it was so crazy.

Except for that the rest of the week was pretty normal and we are just preping everyone for this christmas and who is the real reason that we have christmas every single year. I love being a missionary i cant believe how many christmas times that i have spent thinking about what the best gift i will get and nothing about the lord it is terrible. Its ok to be excited for that but we must always remember what is the point... WHAT IS THE POINT.

I love you all so much and hope you have a great week

November 24, 2014

Hey whats up everybody! How is everyones plan for this week for thanksgiving haha because for me nothing changes haha there is no thanksgiving here! haha but we know a few members that said they want to have a asado (barbaque) that day so it will be dope.

Anyway for me this last week things are doing good we have had alot of things change in our mission and things are quite interesting in our mission. They have changed all the numbers and now we dont count like anything its super weird and good because now we are really focusing on the people.

I had a good week this week but we did move one fo our dates for a baptism because he is going to be working so the baptism will be next saturday instead of this coming saturday. Also we found alot of new investigators so that has made things really fun in our area.

I hope everything is doing great back home for all my friends and family and want to wish you a happy thanksgiving. Remember to think about what you are grateful for and give back.

Also to finish i want to invite all to go to Christmas.mormon.org they have a new video about christmas there that all need to watch for the coming month watch it and share it with everyone this is a worldwide invitation from the church.

November 17, 2014

Hahah so i just want to start off by saying that i am just fine i have heard from my parents and my mission president that there was a big confusion that another elder adams (who i know, he was the mission financer when i came to the mission and is about to finish his mission) who got hurt somehow with his foot and is going home and my parents got an email from my president of the mission saying that your son is coming home but actualy it is him going home just a little before his time to finish his mission which stinks but i am fine.

Anyway as for my week it has been great we have been working really hard and there was some really big changes made in our mission which makes it really interesting and that we will be really focusing on only FINDING NEWS and with MEMBER lessons wich is great and really makes us change our way of teaching. As for the two dates that we set last week one is for the 29th of november and the other is for the 15th they are both so great and are truly starting there journey to see the plan that god has for us.

One of them is Teresa she is like 21 she is from the south of chile and is super energetic and happy all the time and has a real wish to know god for who he is.
The other is Brandom he is 19 and his girlfriend is a really active member of the church and he has attended like 4-5 times so i have no worries about him. Also about brandom it was his birthday this last thursday and we got him a tie and a watch for his birthday and really liked it and said is day was really crappy so he really felt our love for him. We are also working with alot of other people but none have a true progression like they do.

Anyway i love you all so much and if any of you need anything i am here every monday to answer your questions but just remember you have the lord at any moment.

November 10, 2014

So this is the first email from an actual ciber that doesnt smell like beef and cheese and it is becaue we are in a place called "jumbo" which is basically like a smiths market place and has like everything its fetching cuico (expensive).
For those of you that didnt read my email last week i am in Antofogasta now in a ward called Las Rocas. This ward is not even kidding the biggest ward in the mission. We had an attendance of 264 people in church yesterday. I hardly can belive that the ward has not been split yet but, the i have heard from a few members that they are planning on that in the next year or so. Although for now i am in the biggest ward in our mission AND the most rico/cuico (rich) people in the most expensive city in my mission. I AM SO EXCITED FOR CHRISTMAS HERE! I have heard that every missionary that is here in this sector during christmas gets tons of gifts from members so i am fetching excited.
As for the area it is huge it is basically the area i had in taltal but tripled with a whole bunch of rich people with gates and really fetching big dogs. By the way that reminds me of a dog we found here in the area it is not even kidding on it hind heels a foot taller than me. (i am 6´3 this dog is 7´3) I named it Cerberus like the three headed dog that protects hades in the underworld in greek mythology #nerdmoment. I will send you guys a photo it is huge.
Although for all the things that have happened here i really like it i can actually find basically anything i want here i am not excluded to only a few things here and there with only a few members to help us with the ward here and there things are great and i am so excited for the baptisms that we going to have. Because when i got here we had 3 dates set and me and my comp put 2 more this last week things are going to rock this cambio.
Also for my new comp he is preety awesome basically i found my short, moreno, peruvian twin. Him and me have a lot in common except the fact that he is leaving to go home in a little less than 3 months so he is super trunky but, President called me and told me that ahead of time so i was ready for it and have figured out how to make my comp go and finish his mission strong BAPTISM his whole mission he baptized alot but this last little while he slowed down so this next two cambios we are going to baptize.
Anyway i love you all so much and hope you have a good week because i know i will. I feel your prayers each and everyday and because of that prayers are sent your way.
Also shout out to the my two football teams that had to play against eachother this last saturday and Oregon took it to Utah its a little sad and exciting. Also to my dad who recived a new calling as High Priest group leader and got set apart as a high priest on sunday that is so cool and you are such a good example for me in my life.
Con mucho amor de un elder en chile

the first one is of the giant fetching dog cerberus
the second is of a burger place that is mas o menos cheap and gives you a HUGE burger.
the third is of a sign that i see every where at that place called Jumbo like smiths that basically is an in case of emergency sign.

November 3, 2014

So the crazy thing that happened this week is that we got camibos and I.......am.........Leavin :( It was super hard to say goodbye to all the people over there in tal tal they are truly great people and i will never forget them and the hard work they did to help the missionary work flourish in Tal tal. Although now i am in my new sector called "Las Rocas" in Antofogasta it is the largest ward in the mission and i am coming from the smallest sector in the world it will be super crazy and a huge change in my experiences and mind on the mission. Anyway except for that i am just really excited to go out and start my new sector as Only Señor Compañero of an elder who is about to end his mission. I am excited about it and our oppurtunity we have here to learn alot from eachother his name is elder Casas he is really funny and a little quite but its still only the first day will see what changes in a week.

Anyway i dont have much to say because now i am just starting this new sector but for sure i can feel your prayers each and every day and i just want to say thank you for that.

October 27, 2014

WOW so this week was super interesting alot of random things happened that turned out to be super fun.

First tuesday we went to a less actives house who has so much faith and asked us if we could go to her ranch one morning and help her paint some boards. We thought yeah no problem no big deal so then the next morning we go there and she had us paint the boards and then build a fence around her huge property we spent the whole morning and afternoon there but after all that hard work we were talking with her grandson all day who was helping us and we basically explained to him what we do and who we are and about the restoration and he liked it alot but he was only going to be here for this last week so when we finished we passed him a folleto and asked if he wanted the missionarys in ovalle to pass by and he said yeah so i hope the elders over there like this great new investigator we just worked our cans off to get.

Then after that we had to prep some of the jovenes to travel to calama for a day and have a seminary activity beetween them, calama, and antofogasta and from what they told me they had only the 4 of them and they competed against tons of other jovenes in other citys and they got second so we were preety happy for them.

Then also we have found alot of new investigators in the strangest way the hermanas have had alot of blessings in there area and had started to have alot of male investigators that had women in the home so they could pass by but this last week all the women left back to there own country for a few different reasons and we picked up like 3 new investigators from them so it was preety great.

Also today we went to go look for some slippers for my comp around the house so he is not just in his flip flops so we went and met this guy who gave us some "free" shoes it turns out he is just a little crazy in the head and told us too take the shoes and try them out and see how we like them and then return them but instead we just told him no were ok and he like chased us out of the store to buy the shoes. Strangest shoe man ever!

Anyway thats basically what happened to me this week it was super weird but way fun. Also i want to let everyone know i have recieved info from my little brother chandler that UTAH beat USC 24-21 so i just want to say shove it and even though i am not there to disfrutalo in this epic moment my brothers are doing it for me. Also i would ask that you all send a prayer out to my big bro Hayden who is sick in bed this week and ask that you send blessings his way because i will be doing the same.

Thank you all for the blessings and prayers i have felt this week, i love you all so much

October 13, 2014

This week was quite an interesting one. It was really fun but when we came to the end of the week we were able to see that we did almost everything we could to have what we got.

We had by the end almost no lessons with investigators but a ton of less actives and recent converts but the reason for that is because we had to travel to Chañaral again on this last monday until tuesday and got a little work done then we traveled to antofogasta on wendsday for the dentist again but the good news about the whole thing is that i saw a miracle and a half where my papito showed up in the terminal at Turbus Elder Butler it was so awesome to see him again and catch up on how things are in the mission. Then we went back to tal tal late! Went to bed and Worked our cans of Thursday and Friday and on Saturday we had a super cool Carnaval (Water fight) in the grounds of the church for all the jovenes i have phots but they are in the church and forgot to take them off so i think i will send them next week. Then sunday we had some cool new investigators in there that are chinese and they are so dope one speak three languages and the other two (spanish, chinese, and english) it is super cool.

Also this week was super fun because we went Fishing TWICE it was so dope because in chañaral we went with the president of the branch over there for a few hours before our bus left and then today we did it solo here and we caught all together 5 fish it was super cool.

Anyway i love you all so much and hope you have a good week  and remember not to worry because the lord will watch over you and protect you because you are allways in my prayers.

elder adams
the first one is of the president in Chañaral showing off

the second one is the two fish me and my comp caught

the third is of my comp completely snoring on the bus to antofogasta. People kept telling me to poke him or something haha
the fourth one is of my plaque on the coast

the fifth is of my comp and the fish we got today. Also the one closest to him was massive like the size of my calf.

the sixth is of the beautiful chilean coast.

October 6, 2014

I would like to start of by saying the lord truly works in mysterios ways. This week was so great, Hard but in the end the lord takes a sharp stone and through pressure he shapes something beautiful.

This week at the beginning me and my companion have been really pushing to put some new goals, new investigators, and crazy ideas. So we started the week with monday and we spent the entire monday looking, and looking for someone to teach there was nobody they all left for the week to familys in antofogasta to watch conference together. Then i got a huge tooth ache and got sent to antofogasta and they filled a cavity which took out our entire wendsday. Then thursday we had planned to meet with someone who was going to get baptized this week but it turns out he lied to us and is only 17 but really wants to get baptized and his parents refuse to sign the baptism paperwork. So that was really rough. Friday we did an activity with some of the teenagers that are here and it was the first thing that went well we cleaned up the chapel and cleaned the beach. Then we watched conference the first day wich was absoulutly incredible but the saddest part is that eveytime i heard some of the talks there were certain  people who we asked to come and didnt that truly needed to hear that talk. Then the next day we asked them to come and they didnt come and told us straight up they dont want anything. So on our walk to the chapel we were really discouraged and sad and that is when we met a family of colombians who we pass by all the time saying hi and they came up to us and asked what we really do? we explained and asked if they would like to come listen to a few messages that we know will change your life, and when elder bednar gave that talk about people who arent members this family asked us how this stuff all works and so we talked to them and now we have a family of three to work with. I really didnt complete any of the goals that we put but i honestly think that they will be baptized very soon they had the light of the spirit in there eyes. I am so happy that when i feel discouraged and feel like i am doing eveything possible to help the lords work he is just waiting to pour out blessings up on us that we dont have room to recieve them.

I love you all so much and hope you all have a good week and remember to apply the wonderful talks for all of us in our lives.

elder adams

ps i love that like every talk given they said something about our beloved prophet it really impressed me.

September 29, 2014

As allways my week was really great. Also it looks like all of your too everybody seems to be doing really well back home. Especially want to give a shout out to my brother hayden who did basically a "make a wish" program for a kid in pleasant grove who is a sick terminal kid and he came over in his IRON MAN suit wich he made it is super dope if you want to see the pictures my mom has them at cpa720@gmail.com they are so cool and want to give congrats to him.
So for my week at the beginning we found some OLD baptism paperwork in the filing cabnets of the church and so we have been looking for these members and have found alot of information on them and have started reteaching them and we got one to come to church this last week so it was really cool.
Also we did divisions with the zone leaders in our sector so we got alot of numbers this week so thats good. Although the real reason they came over was to do the baptism interview with our investigator Luis who will be having his baptism this friday before conference so we are so excited for him but we are a little worried to because we still need the signature of his dad and we will know tomorrow if he will sighn or not if not no big deal we will postpone the baptism until november when he turns 18 but the most important thing his that he really wants it!
Anyway thats basically it for my week I would hope that all of you have a good week and remember to keep luis in your prayers tonight so his dad will sighn the paper and we can see a miracle. I love you all so much

September 22, 2014

To start of i just want to let you all know i changed the subject of this letter to all capitals because i realized i send the same thing every week and just wanted to see if anyone noticed. If you did you are my number one fan (mom and aunt Jeanette)

Anyway so my week this week was super exciting and fun as allways every week in the mission field you learn something, have tons of great lessons, have a giant rash, or all at once. It is the best time of my life. So this week we had our transfers and........ I ....... AM .......... STAYING HERE!!! WOWOWOWOW haha but its really what i wanted i still have tons more planned to do in this wonderful little city. Especially with investigators. I have three right now that i just cannot wait to see in the waters of baptism. One is Luis he is the coolest guy ever he is a mechanic and is going to school and hardly has time for the missionarys because is busy all the time but when we do teach he asks specifically what we are missing before baptism. =0 also the other two are a husband and wife. Luz and carlos they have a kid in santiago who served a mission and they have traveled all over the world and seen so many places and food. I LOVE THERE FOOD. She is peruvian and makes the best food we are trying to convince her to be our mamita. Also they are so close to having a fecha and am preety sure they will accept.

So what happened this week was really cool we went to chañaral again and had a conference with our president of the mission and the assitants so it was super fun and we did a cool activity to get revelation for our sectors and i felt like i had three angels around me. I have some really cool plans for our sector. Also after we had an intercambio between elders and had a barbaque for a branch activty it was super dope. Then the rest of the week was slow and fun. Slow because it was the week of september 18 the 4th of july of chile they take basically the whole week off, everything is closed and everyone travels and aton of people travel here so it was cool to send out tons of references to other elders but it sucked for us. The reason it was fun is they make asados (barbaques) for like every meal and i have never eaten so much meat (fat kid status). Also that is another thing people have asked is if i am getting fat. No not really i am basically the same i have lost some of my muscle but i am still just about the same.

Also so sunday we thought nobody was going to show cause everyone was traveling but we actually had a ton of investigators and members from other parts of the country it was really cool. Then today we went fishing and got some crabs and cooked a soup for lunch it was super good.

Anyway that is my week and i hope you guys keep up the prayers because they are the biggest help for me and my investigators so thankyou. And the same thing is coming your way.

con mucho amor de un elder en Chile

the first one is of one of the five crabs we caught

the second is me and my comp at the bonfire.
the third is of my zone leader, me, and a kid who just got his call to argentina

September 15, 2014

Wow so first i want to say thanks for all the emails from the friends and family. I had alot this week to read so if this email is short i am sorry. Anyway for my week.

The first of we had a preety tough week because we ran into three new problems this week. The first one is a fisherman that we met who was totally drunk and we talked for a little bit and then passed the next day and he was sober and crying about his wife and kids that left him and how he feels super alone. So we taught him a little about the restoration and jesus christ in five minutes and he insisted that we pass by the next day. So we stopped by every day the whole week and he wasnt there. Ugh. Then this other family who we have been teaching for awhile has been really good but then out of know where we stop by and apparently they moved to antofagasta. THe other was one of our solid investigators who still is good and comes to church but when we set up an appointment he allways bails last minute and it sucks cause we plan for it and set things up so it will work and then nothin. Ugh

Although not to worry we had one of the best activtys this week thanks to all the extra time we had and not to mention this week is the week basically of fourth of july for CHILE so we had a huge activity called "fiestas patrias" it was rocking we had food, games, a talent show, and then native dances. It was so great.

Then on sunday we had tons of people we thought would be able to speak but ended up super sick so we had me, a sister missionary, and the president of the branch speak it really was just frustrating but we are going to have the same people speak this coming week.

Also we have cambios coming this week so next email i will be letting you know if anything crazy happened because these cambios i could stay or leave i really dont know but, I really want to stay there are some investigators here who i really want to see baptized before i leave.

To end i just want to answer the questions my mom has because i know she is probally the only person who reads this whole email but not to worry I love you mom. I did get my debit card and preety soon here i will buy a new camera and send alot of photos like before. I eat alot of salmon, shrimp, and there are alot of japanese people here so sushi too, but my favorite is sword fish it is so good. Yeah my comp is fine he and i have no idea what happened it was really weird the whole thing. Of course i still do all the finances, all the activtys, and mutuals for the jovenes. I hope that is it if you have more let me know.

I hope you all stay good and remember i keep you in my prayers.
con mucho amor

September 8, 2014

Sorry i am writing super late but i was on a bus all day and barely got off with engough time to write you guys with permision from president, but i will get to why i was on the bus later. So this week was super fun and interesting we started the week with the zone conference which was super awesome which i talked about in the last email alot but the rest of the week was really fun applying what i learned from the video.

OH random fact we had our time change yesterday so now i think i am a 5 hour difference from you guys. Right now it is 8:10 pm

So to explain the majority of the week. Through the video we figured out what to do with some of our investigators and less actives we have. For one we had is our mission leader who is super inactive and doesnt help us with the mission stuff at all but what we taught him on thursday about the importance of marriage and blessing waiting for you after the mission he was literaly in tears and came to church.

Another family who has not come to church the whole time i have been here. We stopped by them to teach a family home evening and they came to church.

Also we found 3 solid new investigators from just talking to everybody this week was truly impressive all the blessings we recieved. Until the end of the week when it hit sunday my comp had a serious pain in his knee and we went to a members house and said your knee is like screwey or whatever so p-day we went to antofogasta went to the hospital and there was nothing wrong with it. (my first thought was WHAT THE FETCH). So then we came back and now i am in a little old ciber that doesnt work very well because all of the normal ones are closed.

Although i think that the best thing is that my comp doesnt have any real problems he just has a really rough bruse or something. So there you go another blessing to.

I really love you all and hope you have a good week

September 1, 2014

Sooo this week there was alot of very interesting things that happened but before we get to that i just want to say, I have never been so filled up and thrown down in the same day as today. I will let you all think of what i mean by that through this email.
This last monday was really fetching fun we went to the beach and played soccer with some jovenes and then went and lunch with two of our investigators who are peruvian. Since the mission i have now declared peruvian food is probably my favorite of all next to indian and japanese but the AJI (hot sauce) they make is so amazing they make it in so many different flavors, colors, and tempature of heat you want down your throat. IT is so great! After that we cleaned up the house of a menos activo who needed us to clean her patio

Tuesday we spent the morning making cards to put in little almacens (stores) that have free laminas of jesus and has our number and at the end of the week we stop by the almacens and they have a few names for us. It has gotten us a few this week. Then the rest of the day was preety normal.

Wendsday we took alot of the time building a members house whos roof is falling apart and cant and we wont let him move around too much otherwise he will probably die he is like 85 and super ricity but has the heart of a war horse.

Thursday the power in all of tal tal went out at about 6 and it was like pitch black cause the sun wasnt out nor the moon the stars were unbelivable we had a lesson outside with the same two peruvians from monday and talked about the plan of salvation and word of wisdom and set some serious goals for carlos he has been smoking since he was 13 and he is 76 so we talked about it and he is really wanting to change but it will be a slow change. ONE of the best lessons of my mission.

Friday we made peaunut butter bars for the english class and they absolutly adored them and we got some new people in there from street contacts wanting to learn english. It was super fun.

Now for saturday we spent the whole day in the chapel setting up for three girls birthdays that we celebrated in the chapel and had kareoke at first no one was singing and then i sung eye of the tiger and every body loved it and then it all started it was really fun.

Then Sunday was literaly a miracle i didnt have to do anything in the branch everybody was ready to speak and the teachers all showed. It was so reliving but then president had to leave really early so our meetings were really rushed and after that we only had time for a few lessons cause we had to travel at 6 but i have never felt like one days time was more used every second the whole day we used to get help someone or teach something before we left.

Now today we are in chañaral we had a zone meeting and alot of things changed this month but the coolest and craziest thing happened we watched a video of one of president uchtdorfs talks with the area presidency and the coolest part about it is those videos are protcted by the church and are not brodcasted or shown any where else but our mission got special permission to show it to the elders and there was things in it that have changed the way i look at the mission and especially the sacrament. The way and things i took from it spirtually tore me to pieces and built me up all at the same time. It was amazing

Anyway that was my week i hope you all have a good week and want to let you know as all ways there are allways prayers to be made and one for each and every one of you and hope you can feel those blessings through this next week.

August 25, 2014

So this week was really fun! It was crazy we had to do tons almost everyday. So lets get started with this last tuesday.

We had to do seminary because the hermanas normally do it but they traveled to chañaral for the day to do visa stuff for the new gringa also i had to plan my first district meeting. It was really good we made brownies as the activity and each ingredient was one of the scriptures they had to search it was a really fun day.

Then Wendsday we finished contacting some of the people we found with all of the jovenes this last week and we met the first convert in all of taltal obviously he is inactive but me and my comp have been working really hard with him and his family they are so great. It is so cool to see some of the photos of the elders from the 80`s wow weird.

Thursday it was preety normal we met with some of our new investigators and had lunch with this peruvian family who makes the best Aji (it is basically hot sauce from peru) ever i even had her make some special for me to take back to the penchant and use for my meals.

Friday started out horrible i found a giant spider next to my bed scared the crap out of me but then the rest of the day was good. We had to teach seminary and english class it was my first week teaching english it was really funny and actually is one of the best ways i have found to practice my spanish.

Saturday was amazing we planned in district meeting to do a activity in the plaza to find news and we decided to put up a stand that says "free doughnuts" (roscas gratis) so that morning i made 150 doughnuts to give out and tons of pamflets and cards it was great we met so many new people.

Then sunday the top of it all the majority of the people we met in the plaza were in church the next day it was so great we had 14 investigators in church and 51 people in church that is great for this little branch and truly a miracle.

well i love you all so much and sounds like everyone is doing really good i hope everything continues to be good i will be sure to keep the prayers up.

con mucho amor

the first one is of all of the doughnuts we made to give out on the activity.

the second is of the spider i found next to my bed of friday and if any of you know me i jumped out of my bed so fetching fast!

August 18, 2014

Alright so for this week there is alot to say and i actually have some time to get it all out. So for those of you who didnt read my email last week I am still in taltal Livin life to the fullest. I am here with my new companion elder cabrera he is super awesome. He has only been a member for a little over a year after his year mark he came out to the mission. He is has one of the strongest hearts and testimonies i think i have met in the mission. He came to the mission field at the same time as me but has one cambio less than me. (because he only has two weeks in the mtc and i had 6.) He is super cool.

One other thing this week that has been really fun of the new people in my district there is a brand new hermana in my district she doesnt know hardly any spanish and she is with a latina who doesnt know any english. Its preety great helping them communicate cause it also kind of reminds me of all the time i have spent trying to understand the conversations and words people are saying throughout out the day. Although through the time i have´nt realized how much i have really picked up. Its a really good feeling.

As for this weeks work with the missionary work was really hard. We hardly had anytime all week because our young womens president had planned a huge youth conference and we are the young mens presidents so we had to be there basically all week but what was so great is we got to take the last day and go out with all the young men and women and be missionarys for a day. They got up at 7, studied, left to contact, came back and ate, studied english (haha i helped them it was super fun), worked again, and then we had a testimony meeting at the end alot of the young men at the beginning thought it was super dumb but now are super excited about all of it and are thinking about serving missions. Also we got a whole bunch of new contacts thanks to them so i am really excited about that.

Anyway i hope all is well it sounds like everyone is preety bumbed about going back to the school part and excited about the social aspect as usual. Although not to worry summer will be back sooner than you know it. I still cant belive the month right now i still feel like i am in january time is just flying by. Anyway i love you all so much and you are allways thought of and prayed for.

con mucho amor

August 11, 2014

I am so sorry i dont have like any time to write. Although we had cambios this week and ................... I am staying in taltal as District leader my new comp should be getting here tomorrow his name is elder cabrera my old comp is leaving to arica for a 18 hour bus ride :( sucks for him.
this week was really hard for lessons everybody was gone or busy and we had to plan this huge activity this next week wich will be really cool because we are having the jovenes be missionarys for a day they will do everything with us it will hopefully be great for the numbers here.

I just want to let you all now i love you and am still here and working has hard as possible to bring blessings to family and friends back home. Keep the prayers coming i truly feel them each and every day.

August 5, 2014

So to start of i am sorry i was not able to email yesterday we were in a conference in chañaral all day and left right after but the zone leaders gave us permission this morning to have p-morning.

I want to give a huge shoutout to my grandpa for the letter i got yesterday and want to tell him thanks for the love and money. Also to kassidy duval it seems like you are doing well and want to say thanks for the letter.

About the conference, it was really good and super spiritual. Every month we have these meetings so we can meet together as a zone to get mail, new rules, and have time together. It was crazy so our zone leaders got in a bus accident when they were traveling to antofogasta for the liders conference so they knew what to tell us in the zone meeting. Thanks to the lord they were fine, but we remember to keep the rest of the familys in our prayers cause there were 12 seriously injured and 4 died on impact. It was so sad but we had a big barbaque with some of the familys after the meeting and played a good game of soccer and the gringos won it was so fun.

As for our sector everything is working preety well. We have found a few people thanks to this new site called "Rescate" (rescue) it helps us find every name and member in our area and put other people not in our area to other sectors to start working with them. We have found some news also they are working but both of them are hard to get in touch with so were working with there schedule to set some solid times.

So this next week is cambios and i am preety sure my companion is gone he has been here for 7 months and the president in our last interviews said he was going to take him out unless the lord says otherwise. As for me i am kind of worried becuase i have a very good chance of going up to district leader and training =0. I am excited and terrified for that oppurtunity but nothing is certain we will find out next week.

I love you all so much and would invite you all to read the liahona for august there is a great missionary talk given at a presidents seminar in provo of 2008. It is probably one of my new favorite talks especially about missionary work.

Note a ton to post this week cause i spent alot of the time answering emails i havent touched in awhilel. Although this week was great cause we got a baptism! His name is camilo and he is such a baller he is like my first real investigator who has read the book of mormon. Thats right READ the whole thing not just read it a few times. He is so awesome i was a little worried because he had aton of problems and was going to be the only member in his family but, i think he will be fine.

The work is coming still struggling to find new investigators but, we are allways pushing. Also we have done some really fun stuff with the new My family pamflets and those are cool to get people excited about going to do temple names.

I just want to let everybody know i love you and pray for you.

July 21, 2014

I just want to start of by saying when i opened the emails today i did not think i would get huge news, but now I am absoulutly blown out of my seat. My brother sterling got engaged! Congrats bro I am so happy for the both of you.

This week was really interesting because at the beginning we thought we had tons to do for the branch but by the end we had too much to do and teach and plan for the upcoming weeks and months. That we were racing to try and fit it all into the schedule. That were feeling the pain after when we look at our numbers for the week, and see we didnt do as well as we wanted and set our goals for. Although the thing is that i have learned is the true meaning behind those goals and that numbers dont really matter.

Why do we set goals and have numbers? At the beginning of my mission i thought it was just kind of something extra that we had to do so we could keep track of how are investigators are doing and how well were doing as missionarys, wich it is but there is so much more to it. Without those goals this week i gauarentee we would have just put all the time into the branch and not gotten anything done but really its so we can have ourselves allways pushed to the limits and trying our best to find, teach, and baptize every person we can.

Which also reminds me of our ONE truly progressing investigator he had a date set for the Second of agosto but now he is leaving to santiago at the end of the month so this week we are going to have a baptism! He is so ready i am so excited for him but it makes me really want to find some solid new investigators too so some of our big goals are finding news this week.

I hope all of you around the world are feeling my prayers and the blessings from it. I love you all and am excited to see if you guys can top the news this coming week in my inbox haha.

July 14, 2014

Wow it is crazy to read everyones letters from missions all around the world and realize how many different experiences everyones having its so great. Anyway for my week this week was quite interesting trying to help teach the new branch president about all the dutys and things we do throughout the week not just on sunday. Also i got to give a talk, teach a lesson, and print out tons of paperwork for all the stuff for the branch sunday i was swamped with work but yet i had fun. That is one thing that i have learned very quickly and makes me laugh that i am allway tired, hungry, and happy.

SO this week we had some preety fun times on this last monday because i got to meet all the new people from our zone and we played apples to apples it was so much fun. Also on saturday we had a huge activity for the youth and we went to the beach and played rugby i taught everyone how to play and i had a blast then we played a weird game that the young womens leader made that is a mix between steal the flag and dogeball it was preety fun too but i was just really happy to play rugby again. (even if it was with a whole bunch of 14 year olds who are not very good still a blast)

Also the world cup with alemania winning the whole thing it was a really good game we got to watch the end of it in the plaza where a whole bunch of people were watching it. Also we found a few people that totally thought we were from alemania so everybody just congrajulated(i dont remember how to spell this word) us about the win.

The work was really good we found a few new investigators and some old meno activos that we have been working really hard to come back and we think this sunday we will get them to come. We are super excited about it.

Anyway to end i want to send a shoutout to my big brother Kendrick and wish him a happy birthday this thursday and wish you the best and hope you go take the day and pamper yourself a little haha love you bro. Also i love you all and want to remind you that you are all in my prayers every week.

July 7, 2014

This week i dont have a ton of time to give a normal report on the week but, I just want to say this was really good for la obra misional. We had a huge activity on the fourth and third of july (haha fourth of july). They had this special weekend for taltal and people set up stands and sold products and such and we set one up and had the missionarys and the members, a tv brodcasting mormon messages, and giving out folletos and contacting refrences it was so great we are swamped with refrences and so excited about the possibiltiy of some news it was the perfect thing we needed in our sectors right now.
Also we had a huge change in the branch. Our branch president who has been the branch president for 16 years got released on sunday and called a man who has been in a presidency in peru before but is unsure about the calling cause his job might take him to santiago or to iquique but he is fully equiped and it is really good for the branch our old branch pres needed a brake he is now the young mens leader (not a huge brake hahah).

Also i am in chañaral right now for zone meetings and I got my package from my mom first thing recieved in the mission it was preety great. Anyway love you all so much and hope you all feel my prayers for each and everyone of you.

June 30, 2014

WOW this week was quite interesting to say the least. Thanks to alot of different reasons it was probably one of the harder weeks of my mission. I am so glad that i had today to just kind of rekoop and get ready to have a great week ahead.
So this week was a struggle for number 1 we have almost no investigators and were struggling to find news. We have started a book of mormon gift program for the members where they are supposed to find one good friend and pass our number and a book of mormon and then pass us the number and we just started it this last friday so we havent gotten anything yet but were hoping for some good from it.

We lost to brasil in the world cup and there was so much depression from people in the town we didnt get into a single house the whole night it was like chile just went and crawled into their bed and cried it was so sad. Also we spent the last hour of the night cleaning out the secretary office for the chapel cause it really needed to be done anyway.

We had cambios this weekend and........ i am not going anywhere yeah! neither is my comp but every single companionship in the zone is being changed so its preety weird. This next week will be zone meeting so it will be weird.

Also last but not the least probably the worst thing i got ROBBED by some kids probably but this is a long story so be prepared. We were at a members house painting there door and bars on the windows when we go in to wash our hands for like less than a minute we come out and our bags were gone (totally all our fault and i feel so dumb because of it). And so we ran around trying to find them and didnt find anyone or anything and we asked around and got the carabineros involved because they had everything they had all the keys to the church, the house key, my scriptures, camera, and wallet. It was horrible Although then immediatly after i was freaking out and my comp tells me "lets pray" i cannot believe i was so worried and freaking out i forgot to ask my father in heaven for help so we did and walked down to the ciber nearby and emailed our parents and the office and canceled our cards then we go to the church to go teach english and there was a man there who said he found our bags thrown in the dirt outside his house they had scriptures and invitations to english class and so he came down to return them i couldnt believe it. Although whoever stole them and threw them in front of this mans house took all my money, my camera with all my photos of the mission and the chapel keys. The rest was still in the bag my wallet with all my cards and identification which sucks cause its all canceled now anyway. But i got some of it back so it has really been hard and we are still trying to figure it out.

I love you all and pray for you. Keep doing your best to follow the lords errand and i know he will bless you i have seen so many blessings this week even though there was alot of hard times just remember to allways look to the good and forget the bad and Keep moving forward

June 23, 2014

Whats up family and friends from all around the world. I love you all so much and want to let you know i am thinking and praying about you all the time. Also when i got an email today from my friend Elder Overstreet reminded me of all the elders and sisters that we have out and about in the world today. I love thinking about how many lives will be changed just today and how many will be changed during this two years its so great.
This week was really fun we had zone conference and said goodbye to our zone leader and the other district leader they are both great guys and hope the best for them. Also we had a ton of fun with all the games cause we got to watch the game against spain wich was awesome, and the game against netherlands wich sucked but its ok we advance. Also we watche the end of the US game wich was fetching depressing the last like 5 seconds. Anyway world cup back home is nothing like it is here oh man i love it and hate it down here because we hardly get any work done.

Anyway for the important stuff. This week we had a hard week because everybody was watching the games for world cup and didnt want to listen. We are also having some troubles trying to get some new investigators because this little town has been tracted so many times its really rough but we are really working hard with members to get refrences ready to hear the gospel. Although we did get permission from our president that we can go ahead and put a date for this boy named camillo who is the definition of a gold investigator. He has a lot of problems but truly wants to change in fact he called us last night and said he just wanted to talk because he was really tempted to smoke and he overcame it and said it was great feeling. We have to give him alot of time before baptism but we are so excited for him and are doing everything we can to bring him to the first door of salvation.

I love you all so much and hope you feel my prayers for you guys each and everyday.

June 16, 2014

one word will describe this week completley MUNDIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (world cup) this week was so awesome really juicy! because we could not get into like any houses at all because they all dont want to miss a single a game so its hard to just say hi. But it also means it is really fun because everybody makes a gameday like superbowl times 10 its CRAZY! there was a kid who got killed because people got crazy that night. It was really sad but i have been told that tends to happen because people get alot of alchol and drugs and of course things get bad but we did preety good to prevent it i think because we invited probably every person in town to come and watch the game at the chapel so we could stop some people from drinking and we got a good show of like 20 people it was 10 more than we thought would show so that was good. It was really fun and crazy i have never heard everyone in a town scream so lound from all different parts and it just boom.
That was my crazy experience this week but really it was a hard week for lessons because we traveled twice to chañaral for zone meeting and a conference with president those were great but it really takes so much time from la obra misional because its 2 hours there and 2 back and we have left at like 6 gotten there at 8 helped set up the chapel for the next day, slept over, went to the conference and travel at about 6 get there at 8 and lost one whole day and that happened TWICE this week oh well one thing happened that was really awesome we got a baptism!

Yeah we had a baptism this week and it was really fun it went really good except for the beginning because we didnt have a witness with the priethood show up for like a half an hour but all that matters is that she got baptized and i was able to give her the holy ghost on sunday that was really cool.I love the power of the priesthood and the oppurtunity to exercise my priesthood and what was really funny is at the end of sunday i got to teach the elders qourum about how to excercise your priesthood it was really fun learning how to excercise my priesthood.

Now for one other spiritual thought my mom was telling that she was studying the 6 chapter in preach my gospel which is "Christ like attributes" it so great that whole chapter is really great and has helped me realize what i am lacking in and how i can better myself. Especially the last page about the attribute activity that helps so much and would challenge you guys too look that up, pray, and answer the questions with a sincere heart and the spirit and i know the lord will help you realize what you need to work on like its helped me.

i love you all so much and how hope you feel my prayers for you all each and every day.

June 9, 2014

WOW i feel so freakin old i cannot believe i am now 19 i still feel like 17 and act like im 12. Thanks to all of you who emailed me this week and wished me a happy birthday.  This week has been so great and its really nice and it just puts the icing on the cake to come talk with you guys.
So to start off i want to tell you all the random stuff that has happened cause that is allways fun, we have the coolest nastiest things growing in our house we have (quoting lord of the rings) MUSHROOMS! growing by our patio. It is really funny we are probably the only place in all of taltal who had a mushroom. You would think that is bad but its actually good because we have like somewhat grass so its preety great in the driest desert in the world. Also we after finishing all of the finnance stuff got ORDERED not told. To burn all of the extra worthless paperwork with the churches name on it. It was preety great we got a preety big fire going and for lunch cooked hot dogs and made completos.

Now for the really good stuff, the spiritual stuff. This week was really hard for lessons and dont think the next week will be much better because we are traveling to chañaral all week for a zone meeting. but it is great because we got almost every less active we met with to come to church which is a huge miracle in and of itself. Also something really great we thought we would only be having 1 baptism the coming saturday but on wendsday we were talking with one of our eternal investigators and he said he really wants to be baptized and has asked us when the next one was and we said this saturday and he said perfect. We were really skeptical at first and wanted to make sure it wasnt just a fase so we had him interviewed by the branch president, then we taught him everything again and a small interview and now will be having his interview by the zone leaders today and now i am positive he is ready and willing it is so great.

Now i am just going to quickly answer some of these questions i keep forgetting to answer. I have not recieved the package from my parents. Where i am at i do get alot of fish it is really great we actually get alot of swordfish it is really common here and so tasty. I do do my own laundry and have to hang it up to dry, its actually really nice though cause i can take care of my own stuff and not worry any of it will get lost.

I think thats it but i love you all and need to get going but, I hope you all have a great week and know that this elder down here is allways praying for you.

June 2, 2014

This week was so crazy! We did so much this week it seemed like almost two weeks. I cant believe it!

Anyway this week was crazy because of a couple of reasons, 1 we had to go back to copiapo on wednesday night for my visa and tramites stuff it really sucked because we lost basically all of wednesday night and then slept over with the zone leaders down there then took care of all that crap in the morning (and when i say crap i mean it because it is basically like the dmv with a whole bunch of crazy chilenos, peruvians, argentinians, and colombians needing visa stuff to stay in the country). Then after that we had to take care of some odd buys that we have been needing for the penchant like a colifont (water heater), emergency kit supplies (because our president has told us we all have to put an emegency kit together in case another big earthquake happens), and fetching CHAIRS (in taltal it is so expensive to buy chairs that we havent had any for the past few weeks and have been studying and planning on our beds). Then once we got all that we spent almost all of thursday night traveling back so lost all of thursday ugh.
2 we had to spent all of friday doing work but not getting anywhere because everyone was either with there whole family waiting and partying before the game or watching the Chile vs Egypt game so eventually after trying for like 4 hours we stopped at a members house and just watched the game with them. It was really a cool comeback for chile and everyone was freaking out even though it was just a friendly match (which kind of worries and excites me about the world cup!!!).
Then 3 we got a call on saturday night and told that an auditor was coming to check on the church funds and everything the next morning and thinking we were all great because it is like only my second week as branch secretary i didnt worry about it. But then the next morning before sacrament president and this auditor rip into me wondering where a whole bunch of paperwork was and that i needed to find it today! So after sacrament i spent all of chruch and the rest of the day organizing and finishing the finnances it was probably one of the longest days i have had in my mission so far but its just really nice to think it is all taken care of.

After all of the crazieness this last week i spent almost all of p-day just napping and reading my scriptures it was a really nice relaxed day and am just really excited to go really start doing missionary work again.

Also i have some really fun stuff coming up we are having a baptism this next coming saturday with a lady named angelina i think i mentioned her last week but she is just totally gold and we are trying to push to get her son baptized with her because he knows everything she does but he just hasnt accepted the fecha because he is scared about going back to his old ways. And we might have another person whos name is sergio he knows everything but the same thing with angelinas son isnt sure he can keep being a good person and endure to the end. But our goals this week are to get them to commit. Also in a couple weeks when chile plays against australia we are having an activity with the branch to all come and watch the game in the chapel and we even got the go ahead from president so we are super excited about that.

So from what it sounds like it was a preety busy week...NOT your all parting down in st george. Haha jk i really want some pics and want to let ken know that dad told me about his hole in one and how fetching sweet that is. I have been wanting to play frisbee golf so bad and have almost asked this member who has a scrap metal place to make me a chain so me and my comp can play around on p-day. But really I want all the details from you guys this next week. And dad thought i would be so upset or something about not being there but its the opposite i am really happy and wanting to know what happens this next week and on all the trips you guys have no matter what you guys think i will think of them i want to know what you guys are doing in your lives that is why i get on every week.

So things are hard but i am having so much fun. Haha that doenst make any sense but its how i feel. I love you all so much and truly feel your prayers everyday. Thank you all for being great

May 26, 2014

This week was really funny and stressful. Well i mentioned last week that i got put into a different area and it is called Taltal it is basically just a preety little fishing city. It is really preety and my penchant is like a 5 minute walk to the beach. It is so preety but there are alot of problems with this little slice of paradise.
First off we are about 2 hours each way to any big city, it is just us and the hermanas over here so we are just are own district, and we cant do anything with them on p-days because president is worried about elders and hermanas being too isolated together so its like there not even there. Also my companion is the second counselor in the branch presidency and i am the executive secretary and the first counselor is allways traveling so its like he isnt here so we have to hold up almost all parts of the stick but, the president is really great he served a mission so he knows how things go. Its really crazy he has been the branch president for 14 years because there is literally no one who could take his spot because there is a total of 5 people who have the melchizedek priesthood including us. Dont worry though its not as bad as i am making it out to be. I am excited for the oppurtunity to be here and change this branch the best i can.

All in all though we have been teaching ALOT of people who have been members for a couple years but dont want to go to church because of one true reason and that is because they are just lazy. They say that it is hard to get up, they allways give talks because the branch is so small, and they just try to find very little things to question there faith and we answer it and then just flat out say, no! So this branch as been a very interesting change because we have to give talks almost every sunday, do the tithing, and do the activitys for the young men, elders quorom, and mission activitys. So there is alot more to it now then just teaching the gospel. I cannot deny it is a little overwhelming at times but we do our best to not get stressed out about it.

We have been teaching a few people though who are just gold. We have a lady named angelina. She has come to church the last few sundays. Has a baptism date for the 14th so we are super excited about that and so is she. Also we have a 15 year old kid named camillo who had only been taught the restoration and asked when can i be baptized but, the only problem is our mission president has set a rule that we cant baptize anyone under the age of 16 unless they have been born into a family who is active, which obviously he hasnt. So we have emailed our president asking if we can slip by this rule for him but we will see what he says its probably a no but hope for the best. Also we have just been trying to work with his mom but she is almost impossible to talk or get in touch with because she is allways working.
We also have this guy named sergio who used to live in california and knows english almost perfectly and as asked us to only talk to him in english so he doesnt lose his it. It is super weird teaching in english but fun too. It is very hard with him though because he is stuck on like only two things he wants everyone to be the perfect christian and especially himself and he says in genesis that on the seventh day he rested but here everyone thinks that the week starts on sunday so he wants to know why we dont go to church on saturday instead of sunday and we have given him so many answers but he just wont budge.

Also one other question you guys have asked is about my companion Elder Preston. He is 20, from california, Santa rosa (shout out to hayden) He went to school at UCLA before he came out here. At UCLA he was on the rowing team there. He has 8 months in the mission and can speak almost fluent. He is preety cool, quiet so i do alot of the talking but when he does say something it is really funny.

But today was so great we asked some of the members if we could borrow there bikes and we went and rode on the coast and climbed to the top of this rock and got some great pics of taltal but my comp has them and he cant get his computer to send them to me so maybe next week i will send them but i will definitly send the ones that i got.

So that is preety much everything and just want to let you all know i am great, and even though this area will be a big change but i know it will help me understand alot of the other areas of the church wich is really exciting. And even though my spanish is coming along slowly but surely. I can definitly comunicate and understand almost everything they say but of course i still have to work on it alot. Anyway i have a challenge for you all this week  that you all pic a topic to study and prepare a talk like you were going to give it but then just save it and know you allways have it and i know you will know so much more on that topic and if you continue to do it you will grow so big in the gospel but its ok if you only do this week and would be excited to here your feedback and what you learned. Love you all so much and am allways praying for you.

the first is of the beautiful area of taltal.

The second one is of this giant plant thing our investigator angelina has in her back yard and there are little fruit things that come from it called tuna. Not a joke they are called tunas according to angelina.
the third one is of me at this cool rock area that has like a million shells and i got quite a few good ones.
the fourth is of me cooking some dang good pasta. Haha and i know what your all thinking elder adams making pasta what has the world come too. But all i can say is the mission has changed me and that i have to do my own food and pasta is really cheap and you get alot of it.
